Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Commissioner Wilton Simpson has announced the state's annual Arbor Day celebration. The event will take place on January 19, 2024, at the Capitol Courtyard in Tallahassee. This year's theme is "Planting for Our Future," emphasizing the importance of tree planting and environmental stewardship.
Commissioner Simpson said, "Arbor Day is a time to recognize the vital role trees play in our environment and communities. Planting trees today ensures a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come."
The FDACS encourages participation from individuals, schools, and community organizations across Florida. Participants are invited to plant trees in their local areas and share their efforts on social media using the hashtag #FLArborDay.
"Trees provide countless benefits including clean air, shade, wildlife habitat, and beauty," added Commissioner Simpson. "We invite everyone to join us in celebrating Arbor Day by planting a tree and making a positive impact on our environment."
