Constantly seeking to provide value to one’s employer or clients is the best way to prosper in a down economy, media company CEO Curt Mercadante told Orlando-based sales trainer Joe Pici on a recent episode of The Sales Edge Podcast

“No matter who you are, ask yourself, how can I provide so much value to my client, to my company, to my manager, that they have to find an excuse to keep me with the company to keep paying me,” said Mercadante. “This isn't your value as a human being, we're talking about work.”

“Wake up in the morning and don't feel entitled to a job or a client or a sale,” said Mercadante. “Instead, ask, ‘how can I provide so much value that they can't live without me?’”

Mercadante’s comments echo those of authors Bob Burg and John David Mann, who write of the “Law of Value” in their best-selling book, “The Go-Giver.”

“Your true worth in the marketplace is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment,” write Burg and Mann.

In essence, it emphasizes the importance of focusing on providing exceptional value to others, which in turn leads to success and positive outcomes. The authors suggest that by consistently delivering value that exceeds what is expected, you create a foundation for building strong relationships, trust, and long-term success in both business and personal endeavors.

Mercadante is CEO of Advantage Informatics, a company that provides publications, news organizations, and businesses with reliable, timely, affordable content. He also is a keynote speaker who presents on the topics of mindset, productivity, leadership, and branding.

His podcast episode with Pici included discussions about professional development, remote working, productivity, and priority management.

In addition to hosting The Sales Edge Podcast, Pici is the co-founder of Pici & Pici, Inc., at which he serves as a strategist for sales professionals and business owners. He has been ranked as the number one sales trainer in the world by Global Gurus, largely for his live phone call sales workshops.
