CITY OF PORT ST. LUCIE: New segment of Port St. Lucie’s Riverwalk Boardwalk now open!

Board

City of Port St. Lucie issued the following announcement on Sept. 18

What: Westmoreland segment of the Riverwalk Boardwalk in the Port District

When: Opened to the public on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020

Where: The boardwalk runs along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River from Bridge Plaza to the riverfront park adjacent to the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens.

Why: The Port St. Lucie City Council, staff and project partners celebrated the ribbon cutting at the Westmoreland segment of the Riverwalk Boardwalk.  Please click here to watch a video about the grand opening.

The new segment adds about 1,900 linear feet of new boardwalk to the City’s riverfront. It includes transient boat dockage and bump outs along the span, for maximum viewing and recreational opportunities along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River.

Beginning in the 2000s, the City added approximately 2,000 linear feet of boardwalk along the river, north of Port St. Lucie Boulevard, to provide public access to the river from both Veterans Park at Rivergate and Tom Hooper Park. The link to connect this section to the Westmoreland section under Port St. Lucie Boulevard is scheduled for construction in 2022.
