The University of Central Florida (UCF) rowing team received its fourth Big 12 Boat of the Week award this season, according to an April 22 announcement. The recognition was given to the Second Varsity Eight boat following their performance at the inaugural Orlando Invite.

This achievement ties the Big 12 Conference single-season record for most Boat of the Week awards by one program, a milestone previously reached by two schools during the 2022 season. UCF has earned every weekly conference honor except for one week when there was no competition scheduled for its team.

It is the first time this season that UCF’s Second Varsity Eight has been honored, joining earlier recognitions for both the First Varsity Eight and First Four boats. The Second Varsity Eight last received this distinction on April 3, 2024. At the Orlando Invite, they advanced from heats with a lead over then-No.15 Miami and then-No.19 Penn before narrowly defeating then-No.13 Alabama in a close Grand Final race.

The winning crew included coxswain Sophia Tursi and rowers Sofia Scott, Maja Misljenovic, Bella Montalvo, Maci Brede, Coralie Detre, Lexi Sanchez, Olivia Werner and Lujza Kovacs.

Looking ahead, UCF will take a week off before traveling to New Jersey to compete against No.6 Princeton and No.21 Penn on May 2.

UCF is part of the Big 12 Conference and aims to represent both its university and community through competitive athletics.
