Tropical Storm Helene prompts emergency declaration in 60 Florida counties

As of Tuesday, September 24, Tropical Storm Watches are in place for 18 counties in Florida. Additionally, Hurricane Watches have been issued for another 18 counties. Storm Surge Watches extend from the Southwest Florida Coast to the central Florida Panhandle.

Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency across 60 counties in anticipation of Tropical Cyclone Nine’s landfall. This cyclone is expected to develop into Hurricane Helene and could cause significant damage, prompting small business owners to prepare accordingly.

The state of emergency applies to the following counties: Alachua, Baker, Bay, Bradford, Brevard, Calhoun, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Duval, Escambia, Flagler, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Glades, Gulf, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands Hillsborough Holmes Jackson Jefferson Lafayette Lee Leon Levy Liberty Madison Manatee Marion Monroe Nassau Okaloosa Okeechobee Orange Osceola Pasco Pinellas Polk Putnam Santa Rosa Sarasota Seminole St. Johns Sumter Suwannee Taylor Union Volusia Wakulla Walton and Washington.
