Danny Reams, Jr., a 32-year-old resident of Tallahassee, Florida, has been sentenced to 168 months in prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release. This sentence comes after his guilty plea to charges of attempted enticement of a minor and the receipt and distribution of child pornography. The announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
U.S. Attorney Heekin emphasized the importance of protecting children: “There is no greater charge than the protection of our children, and I am deeply appreciative of the excellent work of our state and federal law enforcement partners to target those who attempt to prey upon our kids.”
Court records reveal that Reams distributed an image of child pornography via social media in June 2024, received similar material through another platform in August 2024, and solicited sex from an undercover officer posing as a minor in September 2024. His arrest occurred at a predetermined meeting spot.
Nicholas Ingegno, Assistant Special Agent in Charge at Homeland Security Investigations Tallahassee, stated: “HSI is committed to working with our state, local, and federal law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of children throughout North Florida.”
Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil added: “We at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office are unwavering in our commitment to protect our children from those who seek to exploit them.”
The investigation was conducted by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations along with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Eric W. Welch prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse led by U.S. Attorney’s Offices and supported by various federal resources.
