Rubio, Colleagues Celebrate One-year Dobbs Anniversary

On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The ruling made clear there was no constitutional right to take the life of an unborn child and returned the power to regulate abortion to the people and their elected representatives. This was a historic achievement for unborn life.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and colleagues introduced a resolution celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The resolution expresses Congress’ commitment to pursue legislation that protects the unborn and supports new mothers and their children.

“One year ago today, the Supreme Court made a historic decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, overturning Roe v. Wade and returning the issue of abortion to the people. This was a victory for the unborn, and for the millions of Americans who long for the day when all human life will be protected under the law.
“As we mark this anniversary, I want to reaffirm my commitment to protecting the unborn and supporting families. There are still many states where abortion is legal, and we must continue to work to protect life across our country. I know that there is still more work to be done, but I am confident that we will continue to make progress in the fight for life." – Senator Rubio

Vance (R-OH), Roger Wicker (R-MS), James Lankford (R-OK), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mike Lee (R-UT), John Barrasso (R-WY), Todd Young (R-IN), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), Ted Budd (R-NC), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Cornyn (R-TX), Katie Britt (R-AL), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Mike Braun (R-IN), and Deb Fischer (R-NE) were original cosponsors of the resolution.

U.S. Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) introduced companion legislation in the House.
