WASHINGTON, D.C. – On June 30, 2023, as the Bureau of Economic Analysis’ May Personal Consumer Expenditures (PCE) release showed prices paid by consumers for goods and services rose 3.8% over the year, Senator Rick Scott released a weekly update on his actions to address America’s debt crisis and rising inflation. The PCE data released today is further proof that President Biden’s inflation crisis, caused by his and Democrats’ socialist policies and reckless government spending, continues to wreak havoc on the economy and shrink budgets for families as the prices of everyday goods continue to skyrocket.

Senator Rick Scott said, “As folks across the Sunshine State get ready to celebrate July 4th, they are reminded by how expensive things have gotten. Activities that Floridians used to enjoy during this holiday, like barbeques or picnics on the beach, are more expensive and families are having to make tough choices or go without. That is an upsetting reality for many Floridians, and unfortunately, it is due to the reckless government spending the Biden administration has been pushing for over the last two years. Families should be able to enjoy Independence Day rather than worrying about affording gas or groceries—and in Washington, I am fighting every day to put an end to this inflation crisis.”

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation. Click HERE for a comprehensive list of his statements and actions on this urgent issue.
