TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Ashley Moody presented a Back the Blue Award to Sarasota County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Snow for the deputy’s quick-thinking, heroic actions. Last summer, Deputy Snow arrived on the scene of a horrific traffic accident where a man suffered from serious leg injuries. Deputy Snow jumped into action, applying a tourniquet to stem the large amount of bleeding, and saved the man’s life.

Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “Deputy Snow’s quick actions saved a man’s life. Stories like this often don’t get the recognition they deserve. Florida law enforcement officers are heroes, and that is why I am proud to present Deputy Snow with a Back the Blue Award.”

On July 15, 2022, Deputy Snow arrived first on the scene of the accident in Sarasota County. The driver suffered serious leg injuries and lost a large amount of blood. Due to Deputy Snow’s heroic actions and quickly applying a tourniquet, the driver miraculously survived. After being transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, the driver underwent multiple surgeries. The surgeon said that the precise placement of Deputy Snow’s tourniquet is the reason the driver lived.

Attorney General Moody launched the statewide Back the Blue campaign soon after taking office in 2019. The campaign highlights law enforcement officers, citizens and organizations taking extraordinary steps to forge positive relationships between law enforcement and local communities. Since its inception, Attorney General Moody has issued more than 50 Back the Blue Awards.
