Palm Beach Coutyglades Community Celebrated Phase Ii Of Orange Bowl Field

On September 10, Palm Beach County in partnership with the Orange Bowl Committee officially opened the second phase of Orange Bowl Field at Glades Pioneer Park in Belle Glade with a community celebration hosting interactive and recreational activities, youth sports, and health and wellness demos for children and family.

The second phase of this project, which commenced in December 2021, features a multipurpose space for meetings, health screenings, fitness, recreational programs, park furnishing, and shade trees.

The Orange Bowl Field is part of PBC Parks’ initiative to break down social justice barriers making parks and open spaces accessible to everyone and to be a champion of inclusiveness, fairness and social equity in the Glades Region. Thanks to this partnership, the park currently serves as the playing site for several youth football teams and football camps conducted by current and former NFL players.

Glades Pioneer Park was selected as the recipient of the Orange Bowl Committee’s $1.5 million matching Legacy Gift for the design, permitting and construction of the Orange Bowl Field and other related amenities. The amount was matched by the Board of County Commissioners, providing a total of $3 million toward the renovation project. An additional $400,000 in grant funding was received from the Quantum Foundation and the NFL Foundation to assist with the second phase of the project.

Future plans include a new destination playground, picnic pavilion, grand entry plaza and a vehicle drop off area near the neighborhood center.
