Precautionary Waterway Advisory: Seminole River Canal & Intracoastal Waterway

City crews are performing emergency repairs to a sixteen-inch sewer force main in the area of SE 15 Avenue and SE 16 Street in Harbordale. The force main failure caused a discharge into the Seminole River Canal and the Intracoastal Waterway. Effective immediately, the City of Fort Lauderdale is issuing a precautionary advisory to avoid water-related recreational activities in the Seminole River Canal and a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway. The boundaries of the impacted area are:

  • North: SE 15 Street
  • South: SE 17 Street
  • West: Cordova Road
  • East: Intracoastal Waterway

Swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or engaging in any other water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area. Water sampling in the affected area will take place daily. The precautionary advisory will be lifted once satisfactory test results are obtained.
