Cocoa Mayor Blake Elected as 2nd VP for the Florida League of Cities

At the Florida League of Cities Annual Conference, which was held this past August 11-12, 2022 in Hollywood, FL, Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake was elected as the 2nd Vice President of the Florida League of Cities. The association serves an integral role as the united voice for municipalities across the state of Florida and helps to shape legislation, as well as help governments share ideas and resources. Blake will serve in the role for the 2022-23 term.

Blake has served as an elected municipal official for nearly 25 years including time as the President of the Space Coast League of Cities in 2008, serving on the board of the Florida League of Mayors this past year and several different committees for the Florida League of Cities and Florida Municipal Insurance Trust. For many years, Blake was well known in the Cocoa community as a teacher at Cocoa Jr./Sr. High, where he recently retired after nearly 30 years of service to the fine young residents of Cocoa.

“As Mayor of Cocoa, my focus has been to support the City’s efforts on redevelopment, creating new jobs, and on improving the quality of life for all our residents. I believe that when you invest in your community and participate in organizations such as the Florida League of Cities, your community will thrive. I am excited to be a part of that effort through this new role, to bring communities together, to build places where people want to live, and support everyone’s right for a better quality of life,” said Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake.
