FDC Announces Successful ACA Audit of Central Office

Mic gee3e0d49e 1280

Florida Department of Corrections issued the following announcement on Feb. 4.

The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is pleased to announce successful results following a recent audit of headquarters (central office), by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Auditors found operations to be 100 percent compliant with mandatory standards.

“We are proud to open our doors and welcome outside auditors to examine our best practices and organizational efficiencies,” said Secretary Ricky Dixon. “The results of our recent ACA audit further prove Central Office staff’s commitment to maintaining exemplary administrative functions for this agency. Our mission is to support field staff through innovative practices and strategic initiatives, and this is a testament of the hard work and dedication FDC staff exemplify.”

The ACA auditors in attendance each had more than 30 years of service in Corrections. While discussing their findings, the auditors emphasized the remarkable level of skill, professionalism, and compassion displayed by everyone they encountered throughout the office.

FDC began the process of seeking nationally recognized accreditation from the ACA in 1968. All 50 of Florida’s major institutions are accredited by the ACA. The standards created and refined by the ACA represent fundamental correctional practices that ensure staff and inmate safety and security; enhance staff morale; improve record maintenance and data management capabilities; and improve the function of the facility or agency at all levels.
