The administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has filed a lawsuit against the federal government's vaccine mandates.
President Joe Biden announced that he will mandate that businesses with more than 100 employees will be required to vaccinate employees, according to Politico. DeSantis responded that he will be challenging any federal vaccination requirements placed on employers through both federal courts and legislation.
“Let's not have Biden come in and effectively take away — threaten to take away — the jobs of people who have been working hard throughout this entire pandemic,” DeSantis said during a news conference in Fort Myers, according to Politico. “I am offended that a police officer could potentially lose their job."
Lawsuits contesting federal vaccination mandates for the state of Florida will be filed with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Sun Shine Sentinel previously reported that Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody threatened legal action against the federal mandate on Sept. 16 and announced that she was joining 23 other state attorneys general in fighting against the mandate.
“The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is developing a rule that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require any workers who remain unvaccinated to produce a negative test result on at least a weekly basis before coming to work,” The White House said online in “President Biden’s COVID-19 Action Plan.” “OSHA will issue an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) to implement this requirement. This requirement will impact over 80 million workers in private sector businesses with 100+ employees.”
