Winter Haven will receive $9 million in funds to put toward road improvements.
"Winter Haven is receiving more than $9 million in funds to improve its infrastructure and create 1,250 new jobs," Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a tweet last week.
The Florida Department of Transportation is giving $3 million toward the project, and another $6.4 million is coming from the Job Growth Grant Fund, a fund the governor has the discretion to designate toward infrastructure and workforce projects.
The road improvements will increase access to the Central Florida Intermodal Logistics Center in Winter Haven.
Central Florida Intermodal Logistics Center is one of the largest industrial parks served by rail in the United States, but there is currently only one way in and out. The infrastructure project will add another road to connect the center and Winter Haven.
