Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.

Thursday at Mainland High School, members of our Board of Directors got a first-hand experience with a partnership led by the Daytona Regional Chamber, Volusia County Schools, and CareerSource Flagler Volusia. YouScience will help students in middle and high school uncover their innate skill sets and align those aptitudes with career pathways. Our board members took the assessment for themselves to see how it works.

Following the assessment, attendees discussed the potential of the program and how it can be used to strengthen the connections between education and the business community to maximize opportunities for our homegrown talent, an example of which is the Mainland High School Culinary Program whose students prepared and served a fantastic lunch for participants.

There will be more information forthcoming as the partnership launches this school year. We’re excited to lead this effort in pursuit of our mission to advocate a strong economic and business environment.
