Republican Sen. Rick Scott says Twitter's choice to ban President Donald Trump is shameful.

“Twitter has now permanently banned President Trump’s account. Meanwhile, they allow the Chinese to openly brag about genocide and the Ayatollah to talk about wiping Israel off the face of the map. How can they defend this? Their attacks on conservatives are shameful,” Scott tweeted.

Scott went on to give the example of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro who allegedly uses Twitter to spread propaganda and genocide but whose account has not been suspended, which is a clear sign of double standards. He said Twitter was clearly showing a blatant bias against Trump.

The senator, unlike others who changed their positions in the wake of the Capitol insurrection, held fast to his notion that the Pennsylvania election results were illegitimate. The avid Trump supporter has also encouraged him to attend the Jan. 20 inauguration in order to 'uphold tradition.'

“I am urging the President to reconsider his decision to skip the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. He is, of course, not constitutionally required to attend, and I can imagine losing an election is very hard, but I believe he should attend. I plan to attend and believe it is an important tradition that demonstrates the peaceful transfer of power to our people and the world,” he said in a statement,  as reported by Florida Politics.

Since polls closed on Nov. 3, there have been claims of election irregularities and fraud, hence the "Stop the Steal" campaign and the Capitol protests. An estimated 60,000 conservatives,  Trump included, have been banned or suspended for supporting the claims and protests on social media.
