While Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla. had intended to vote against the results of the 2020 presidential elections, he has similarly expressed his concern about the unprecedented event in the U.S. Congress session.

He had earlier released a statement sharing the same sentiment with his Florida constituents and other Americans about how the election was conducted and has thought deeply about questioning it. Scott’s statement called for a fight to defend free and fair elections.

Despite this fact, he has drawn the line over the violence that has resulted from Donald Trump’s urging his supporters to object to the election results.

“Everyone has the right to peacefully protest,” Scott wrote on Twitter. “No one has a right to commit violence. What happened today at the Capitol is disgraceful and un-American. It is not what our country stands for.”

“The thugs who stormed the Capitol today and incited violence should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Every single one of them,” he added.

The mayhem resulted in the death of an Air Force veteran, Ashli Babbitt. She received a gunshot wound and was immediately given medical attention but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Three more Trump supporters died due to medical conditions, and many of the police officers have been hurt in the Capitol riot.
