City of West Palm Beach issued the following announcement on Nov. 25
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of West Palm Beach has remained committed to assisting residents and business owners with relief and recovery resources. Part of these efforts included weekly food distributions towards the end of the summer months where more than 150 volunteers received and delivered more than 500,000 pounds of food to local non-profit organizations for redistribution back into our community. When combined, these individuals contributed more than 1,400 of community service hours to help ensure that West Palm Beach families received the basic supplies needed to cope with COVID-19 mitigation.
Earlier this year, City of West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James announced the ‘WPB Together Heroes’ campaign to highlight community members and local businesses who joined the effort to provide relief and recovery to the City in the wake of COVID-19. “While these individuals had no obligation to donate their time and efforts, they gladly responded to the call of duty to help their fellow community members during their time of need,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “Because of their giving nature, these men and women played an important role in putting food on the tables of residents who might otherwise have gone without. I would like to thank these 153 individuals for their assistance with our COVID-19 recovery and relief efforts. Indeed, they are true WPB Together Heroes.”
