Why: The City of Port St. Lucie did not want COVID-19 to stop us from honoring and remembering the lives lost and forever impacted on September 11, 2001. In partnership with the St. Lucie County Fire District and St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, the City has teamed up to create an online remembrance ceremony, which will be premiered in the place of our annual gathering alongside the 9/11 monument at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Event Center. The digital event will incorporate previously recorded ceremonies and in-studio commentary from our local leaders.

The St. Lucie County Fire District, Port St. Lucie Police Department, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, St. Lucie Fire District Honor Guard, and St. Lucie Fire District Pipes and Drums will assist with the ceremonies.

 Agenda:

  • 8:30 a.m.: Opening ceremonies, welcome, invocation by City of Port St. Lucie Police Chief John Bolduc, St. Lucie Fire District Chief Nate Spera, and Pastor Charlton Holt of Christ Fellowship.
  • 8:46 a.m.: Bell tolls for AA Flight 11 that crashed into North Tower of the World Trade Center
  • 9:03 a.m.: Bell tolls for UA Flight 175 that crashed into South Tower of the World Trade Center
  • 9:15 a.m.: Closing Ceremonial Honors by St. Lucie Fire District Honor Guard and Other Auxiliary
  • 9:37 a.m.: Bell tolls for AA Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon
  • 10:03 a.m.: Bell tolls for UA Flight 93 that went down in Shanksville, PA
We ask the members of our community to join us as we reflect, honor, and remember our fallen neighbors, friends, and loved ones lost on that fateful September day.
