City of Miami issued the following announcement on Aug. 7
The City of Miami Fire-Rescue Department announced today that it will resume its original mission and schedule for the COVID-19 Mobile Testing Unit (MTU), which provides in-home testing to City residents, effective immediately. Mobile testing will once again be available only to City of Miami residents who fall into one of the following categories: seniors age 65 and older, and those who are homebound or disabled. The move comes as several new testing centers and services have recently been made available to Miami residents.
"Since the very outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in our community, Miami Fire-Rescue has set the standard for providing professional home testing services to residents in need, and they will continue to do so," said City Manager Art Noriega. "As new testing centers with expanded testing options open across the city, our MTU teams can now refocus their mission on serving seniors and those who are homebound or disabled."
The City's MTU service offers in-home testing service from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. To schedule an appointment, residents must call the City's COVID-19 call center at 305-960-5050.
In recent weeks, COVID-19 testing options in the City of Miami have increased. The Marlins Park testing site has expanded its services to include testing for children under age 18, as well as 15-minute rapid-response antigen testing for individuals age 5 and up, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not. No walk-up antigen tests will be offered; residents must first register for the antigen test by visiting www.tourhealth.com. Separately, new state-supported testing centers have opened at Miami Jackson Senior High School and the Miami-Dade Auditorium. Also, the City of Miami teamed up with the University of Miami Health System this week to offer free COVID-19 testing to children at Miami's Curtis Park.
