Senator Rick Scott has introduced the Protecting Americans from Harmful CCP Products Act, a bill aimed at enhancing consumer safety by addressing concerns about products imported from China. The proposed legislation would amend the Consumer Product Safety Act to grant the Consumer Product Safety Commission greater authority to mandate recalls of hazardous products made or sold by Chinese companies, including those sold online.

The move comes amid ongoing reports of unsafe baby products and toy pieces manufactured in China that continue to enter the U.S. market despite potential risks to consumers.

Senator Scott stated, “The Chinese Communist Party has shown time and time again that it has no regard for the safety or wellbeing of American consumers. Every day, families unknowingly purchase products made in Communist China that can be toxic, defective, or outright dangerous, while Communist China finds new loopholes to exploit to keep them coming into our nation. My bill puts Americans first by giving the United States government immediate authority to stop Chinese companies from selling products with known product safety issues to American families, whether on our shelves or online. We cannot allow Communist China to deceive our families and put them at risk.”

The bill seeks to address what Senator Scott describes as ongoing efforts by Chinese manufacturers to circumvent existing regulations and continue shipping potentially harmful goods into the United States.
