Senator Rick Scott appeared on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” to discuss recent U.S. actions in Venezuela and his legislative efforts to reform health care. During the interview, Scott praised President Trump and the U.S. military for their operation that resulted in the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, referring to him as a “narco-terrorist dictator.” Scott called for the release of political prisoners in Venezuela and expressed support for efforts toward democracy in the country.

Scott has been involved with Venezuelan issues over several years, advocating for a return to democratic governance. He stated, “The president’s actions are the start of a new day of freedom for the people of Venezuela.”

In addition to foreign policy, Scott addressed health care reform, focusing on his More Affordable Care Act bill. The legislation aims to lower health care costs, increase transparency and competition, and allow families more flexibility in choosing insurance plans. According to Scott, “The bill will work to drive down health care costs and empower Americans to take charge of their health care, increase transparency and competition in the system, and allow families to shop across state lines for the plan that best fits their families’ needs.”

A key component of the proposal is establishing Trump Health Freedom Accounts—HSA-style accounts intended to send federal support directly to families rather than insurance companies. These funds could be used for premiums but would not be allowed for abortion-related services. The act also includes measures such as up-front pricing information and maintaining protections for pre-existing conditions.

Scott explained that any plan approved by a waiver state’s insurance commissioner would be available on exchanges managed federally or by states. The legislation also enhances tax credits for small businesses offering employer-sponsored coverage.
