Senator Rick Scott spoke on the Senate floor today to urge passage of the Sunshine Protection Act, a bipartisan and bicameral bill that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent throughout the United States. The legislation aims to end the practice of changing clocks twice a year.
Scott highlighted his previous efforts as Governor of Florida, where he signed state legislation to keep Florida on Daylight Saving Time all year, contingent on federal approval. He continues to advocate for nationwide adoption through this act, which would also allow states to opt out if they choose.
The Sunshine Protection Act currently has support from 18 other senators who have joined as co-sponsors.
