Senator Rick Scott has joined Senators Tom Cotton, Kevin Cramer, and Katie Britt in introducing new legislation aimed at preventing the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliates from purchasing real estate in the United States. The proposed Not One More Inch or Acre Act would give the president authority to stop future land acquisitions by the CCP and, if national security is at risk, require divestment of property already owned by CCP-linked entities.

Senator Scott stated, “Communist China has chosen to be our enemy and seeks to destroy us and our way of life every chance they get. It’s alarming that CCP-linked entities have been quietly buying up U.S. farmland, often strategically located close to our military bases. That’s not a coincidence. It’s a threat to our national security.

After years of the Biden administration ignoring this growing danger, I’m glad to see President Trump, Secretary of DHS Noem, Secretary of Defense Hegseth, Secretary of Agriculture Rollins, and the entire administration taking bold action to stop it. I’m proud to stand with President Trump and my colleagues to build on these efforts in Congress with the Not One More Inch or Acre Act to permanently block the CCP from acquiring another inch of American soil.”

The bill comes amid ongoing concerns about foreign ownership of U.S. agricultural land and potential risks posed by such investments near sensitive sites.
