WASHINGTON, D.C. – On December 13, 2023, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which showed inflation continued to rise over the year. Since Joe Biden became president, PPI has risen 17.4%.

Senator Rick Scott said, “As small businesses prepare for this holiday season, there is one thing I keep hearing from folks in Florida: how the heck are we going to afford it? Right now small businesses and hardworking families in Florida are struggling just to make ends meet and unless we stop Bidenomics, there is no end in sight. While the Biden administration continues to lie about inflation, Florida families and small businesses are paying the price: forking over $1,069 more every month just to keep up the way they did before Biden got elected. I grew up poor, lived in public housing, and watched my mom struggle to make ends meet. It makes me furious to see so many going through that same hardship, especially during the holidays. We need fiscal sanity now and I won’t stop fighting until we end Washington’s wasteful, reckless spending sprees that keep fueling Biden’s inflation nightmare.”

According to today’s PPI release, price increases over the year in November included:

  • Beef: +25.6%
  • Cleaning Supplies: +15.4%
  • Fruits & Vegetables: +9.6%
  • Coffee: +6.4%
  • Pet Food: +6.0%
  • Tools: +5.9%
  • Soap & Detergent: +4.7%

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation. Click HERE for a comprehensive list of his statements and actions on this urgent issue and HERE for Senator Scott’s Quarterly Economic Snapshot.
