Rathjen leads Owls on day two of American Conference Championship

Florida Atlantic women’s golf team moved into fourth place after the second round of the American Conference Championship in Brooksville, Fla., on Apr. 21. The final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday, with live coverage starting at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.

The team’s progress in the tournament highlights strong performances by several players as they aim for a top finish in the conference event.

Sophomore Maddie Rathjen led Florida Atlantic on day two with an even-par 72. Rathjen made three birdies over a six-hole stretch during her second nine holes, which helped her move up eight spots on the leaderboard and into ninth place overall.

Charlotte Perkins and Nancy Cox also improved their positions during Tuesday’s round. Perkins recorded a score of 35 (-1) over her second nine holes, including birdies on two of her last four holes. Cox matched Rathjen’s total with three birdies in the closing stretch to post a score of 74. Both Perkins and Cox are tied for sixteenth place going into the final round.

Tulsa maintained its lead in the team competition at eight under par, holding a fifteen-shot advantage over second-place Charlotte. In individual standings, Charlotte’s Pinky Chaisilprungruang shot a five-under-par 67 and leads by two strokes over Tulsa’s Samantha Olson.

Final round tee times for Florida Atlantic golfers begin at 8:00 a.m., starting with Carolin Alblas (+13), followed by Tina Genoulaz (+7), Nancy Cox (+4), Charlotte Perkins (+4), and Maddie Rathjen (+2).
