The University of Miami women’s golf team moved into eighth place after the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship, according to an April 16 update from Wilmington, North Carolina. The Hurricanes completed the first two rounds with a combined score of +2.
The team’s performance matters as it positions Miami ahead of several nationally ranked opponents and sets up a competitive final round in the postseason tournament.
Miami began with a six-over-par score in round one but improved significantly in round two, shooting four under par—the second-best team score for that round. Senior Stella Jelinek led Miami and is tied for 14th overall at one under par (73-70), highlighted by four birdies in her second round. Barbora Bujáková is tied for 30th at +1 (75-70) after also posting a two-under-par second round to climb the standings. Ashleen Kaur maintained consistent play with back-to-back rounds of 73, placing her tied for 35th at +2.
Rebekah Gardner stands tied for 61st at +7 (73-78), while Cloe Amion Villarino is in 64th place after improving by ten strokes between rounds to finish one under par on day two. The Hurricanes ended the first day ahead of No. 17 Florida State, No. 33 Virginia, No. 39 Virginia Tech, and No. 48 California.
Current standings show Stanford leading at -23, followed by SMU and Duke tied for second at -12 each. Miami holds eighth place going into Friday’s third and final stroke play round.
The Hurricanes are set to continue their campaign on Friday morning as they look to improve their position further during the last day of stroke play.
