Jason Shane Ejmali, a 51-year-old resident of Silver Springs, has pleaded guilty to attempting to entice a minor for sexual activity. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Ejmali could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison, with the possibility of up to life imprisonment.

According to court documents, between July 24 and July 26, 2025, Ejmali communicated online with someone he believed would allow him access to their foster child, aged 13 or 14, for sexual purposes. The person was actually an undercover special agent from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). During their conversations, Ejmali detailed the type of sexual acts he intended to perform and arranged a meeting in Marion County for this purpose. Law enforcement arrested him when he arrived at the agreed location.

The investigation was conducted by HSI and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Janette Swartzberg is handling the prosecution.

The case falls under Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative started in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse across the country. This program coordinates efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to find and prosecute individuals who exploit children sexually and to rescue victims.
