Kashone Demetrious Bing, a 20-year-old resident of Levy County, Florida, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. This announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
Bing is scheduled to appear for arraignment in federal court before United States Magistrate Judge Midori Lowry on July 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Gainesville, Florida. If found guilty, he could face up to fifteen years in prison.
The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner.
An indictment serves as an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has violated federal criminal law but does not constitute evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt during trial.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. The operation coordinates resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
