The Hialeah Police Department announced on Jan. 30, 2026, that officers arrested 35-year-old Alberto Turino Hernandez in connection with an alleged assault involving his ex-girlfriend and a baseball bat.
According to police, the incident occurred after Hernandez and the victim ended a six-month relationship, during which they lived together for the final two months before splitting on Jan. 27. The user provided source described how Hernandez allegedly ambushed his former partner behind her home in a gray Toyota, struck her legs and back with a bat while yelling “You will not make fun of me” and “You took everything from me,” attempted to force her into the vehicle, then fled with her phone and purse. Hernandez later admitted key elements during a police interview at HPD headquarters according to Local10.
Miami-Dade County data showed 7,551 domestic violence offenses recorded in the county during 2023. The county’s 2024 Status of Women Report indicated this total reflected a slight decline from 7,618 the prior year with an offense rate of 271.1 per 100,000 population.
