Hendrickson Insurance announced on LinkedIn that AmRisc, a subsidiary of CRC Group and Truist Insurance Holdings, has launched Calais Reciprocal Insurance Exchange. This new commercial excess and surplus insurer will initially operate in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, California, and Colorado.

According to Insurance Journal, AmRisc is a subsidiary of Alabama-based CRC Group and Truist Insurance Holdings. The introduction of Calais Reciprocal Insurance Exchange to the commercial Excess & Surplus (E&S) property market is aimed at addressing ongoing market volatility and capacity needs in catastrophe-prone and distressed states. Calais is domiciled in Illinois and plans to expand nationwide as licensing permits.

CRC Group’s June 18 press release indicates that Calais is supported by $100 million in startup funding and has received an A– (Excellent) financial strength rating from AM Best. AmRisc will act as Calais’s exclusive managing general agency, leveraging its underwriting expertise to support coastal property risks. The structure allows policyholder-owners more direct input and benefits within the reciprocal model.

As reported by AM Best on June 18, the A– rating reflects Calais’s “very strong” risk-adjusted capitalization, adequate operating performance, and a diversified reinsurance program. The financial strength assessment also notes AmRisc’s established distribution relationships and underwriting controls. AM Best says the launch targets commercial property owners facing limited options in the E&S market.

According to Hendrickson Insurance’s official website, the company is a full-service brokerage and risk management firm providing tailored commercial and personal insurance solutions for various industries. The firm offers risk management consulting, insurance placement, and claims advocacy for businesses and individuals. Hendrickson Insurance emphasizes its commitment to using expertise and carrier partnerships to find coverage solutions in a changing risk landscape.
