Four members of the Jacksonville University women’s golf team were recognized as Academic All-ASUN selections, the league office announced on Apr. 22.

The recognition highlights student-athletes who have excelled both academically and athletically within the conference. The four honorees—Issy Hopkins, Erin Marcelino, Alexis Rieli, and Kit Schaefer—each maintained a grade point average above 3.5 during the calendar year and participated in more than half of the team’s competitions.

Erin Marcelino achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry on a pre-med track. She was also the team’s top golfer for the season, recording an average score of 76.9 over the year and had previously been named a WGCA All-American Scholar. Alexis Rieli also earned a 4.0 GPA as a graduate student in her MBA program and secured a top-25 finish at the Mercer Invitational during her only year with Jacksonville.

Kit Schaefer graduated with a GPA of 3.56 in sports performance and competed in seven tournaments this season, including participation at the ASUN Championship. Junior Issy Hopkins posted a GPA of 3.61 while studying exercise science; she recorded the second lowest average round score on the team (79.2) and finished 43rd at this year’s ASUN Championship.

Jacksonville’s four awardees tied for second most among schools meeting both academic and athletic criteria across the conference.
