FOIA Request to St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office regarding new recruits application form on July 29, 2025.

The Sunshine Sentinel, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. The request seeks access to a PDF copy of the application form used for recruits and applicants at the Sheriff’s Office.

The request was made under Article I, section 24 of the Florida Constitution, and chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes. The Sunshine Sentinel has requested that the records be provided in electronic format to facilitate their reporting efforts. As part of their professional responsibilities, members of the media rely on access to public records to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency.

The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that supports news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating state and federal governmental agencies. This coalition utilizes Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws to promote transparency in government actions.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
