FOIA Request to South Florida State College regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted by the Sunshine Sentinel to South Florida State College seeking detailed records of employee compensation for the Fiscal Year 2024. The request was made under Article I, section 24 of the Florida Constitution, and chapter 119, F.S., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

The requested records pertain to all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. The fiscal year is typically defined as spanning from September 2024 through July 2025; however, if South Florida State College uses different boundaries, the requester has asked that this be noted in their response. The records sought include various data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time).

The Sunshine Sentinel acknowledges that not all fields may exist in every record but requests that all responsive records be produced regardless. If any portion of a record is deemed exempt from disclosure, they ask for non-exempt portions to be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, the Sunshine Sentinel emphasizes its role in gathering and reporting news to the public. They have also requested a fee waiver based on their status as a media professional. Additionally, they are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating governmental agencies using FOIA and Sunshine Laws.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
