FOIA Request to Pinellas County Sheriffs Office regarding number of applications and tracking on August 14, 2025.

The Sunshine Sentinel has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office. The request seeks records under Article I, section 24 of the Florida Constitution, and chapter 119, F.S., specifically requesting information in an electronic format.

The requested records include the number of job applications received by the office, broken down by week, month, or year. Additionally, the request seeks to identify the department or individual responsible for tracking these application numbers. This information is being sought as part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

As members of the media and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies—we emphasize the importance of access to public records. This access is crucial for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. We have also requested a fee waiver based on our role in disseminating information to the public.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
