FOIA Request to Levy County Sheriff’s Office regarding new recruits application form on July 29, 2025.

The Sunshine Sentinel, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office. The request seeks access to a PDF copy of the application form used for recruiting applicants. This request was made under Article I, section 24 of the Florida Constitution, and chapter 119, F.S., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

As members of the media, we emphasize the importance of accessing public records to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. We have requested a fee waiver based on our role as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news.
