FOIA Request to Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office regarding new recruits application form on July 29, 2025.
The Sunshine Sentinel has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. The request seeks access to a PDF copy of the application form used for recruiting applicants. This request was made under Article I, section 24 of the Florida Constitution and chapter 119, F.S., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.
As members of the media, we at Sunshine Sentinel are dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. Access to public records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. In light of our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
Additionally, it is noted that the requester is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
