Christopher Davies, a 32-year-old resident of Cape Coral, Florida, has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for threatening to assassinate the President of the United States. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Sheri P. Chappell. Davies pleaded guilty to the charge on October 29, 2025.

U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing.

Court documents reveal that Davies wrote a letter to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institution stating he had “orchestrated the most daring Presidential assassination that this country has ever seen,” and that “Donald J. Trump must perish.” When questioned by an agent from the U.S. Secret Service, Davies admitted to writing the letter and said he wanted to kill the President. He further stated that if President Trump were near him, he would attempt to kill him with his bare hands.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Secret Service, and Assistant United States Attorney Patrick L. Darcey prosecuted the case.
