Ronald Carl Peavy II, a 49-year-old resident of Old Town, Florida, faces federal charges for possessing with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, announced the indictment.
Peavy’s arraignment is scheduled before United States Magistrate Judge Midori A. Lowry at the United States Courthouse in Gainesville, Florida on July 1, 2025, at 2:15 p.m. If found guilty, Peavy could face life imprisonment.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution is led by Assistant United States Attorneys James A. McCain and Adam Hapner.
“An indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has committed a violation of federal criminal law and is not evidence of guilt,” stated authorities. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt during trial.
This case forms part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. It utilizes resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
