Florida gymnastics announced on May 6 that Ella Fine has signed to join the Gators as part of the program’s 2027 freshman class. Head coach Jenny Rowland said Fine is the sixth signee for the incoming group.
Fine, who hails from Thomasville, North Carolina, is recognized as a five-star recruit by College Gym News. She will be one of five signees competing at the O’Connell Center in 2027, while another recruit, Caylor, has chosen to defer enrollment in order to pursue a spot on the 2028 U.S. Olympic team.
Rowland said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Ella to our Gator family! She may be small, but she is mighty and extremely fierce. She brings a competitive presence that immediately elevates the room and is the type of athlete who isn’t just chasing excellence, she expects it from herself every single day.
“Beyond her athletic ability, Ella brings a relentless work ethic and a team-first mentality that will strengthen an already driven and united Gator team. Ella is a dynamic all-around gymnast and expected to make an immediate impact with her consistency and fearless approach. Gator Nation is going to love the confidence and fire she brings to the floor!”
Fine cited several reasons for choosing Florida: “I chose Florida because of their academic excellence and their incredible gymnastics program, but also because of the coaches. They were so genuine and welcoming, and I could tell how much they care about their athletes. I can’t wait to be a part of something so special. Go Gators!”
Fine has qualified for multiple national competitions including Junior Nastia Liukin Cup events as well as Women’s Development Program Level 10 Championships in recent years; she missed one year due to injury but earned medals in all-around competition along with event titles on bars and floor.
