Jason Wayne Coleman, a 41-year-old resident of Pensacola, Florida, has been indicted on two counts of firearm possession by a convicted felon. The charges were announced by John P. Heekin, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
Coleman appeared in federal court before Magistrate Judge Zachary C. Bolitho on July 22, 2025. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison for each count.
The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Etherton is handling the prosecution.
An indictment serves as an allegation and does not equate to evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt during trial.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. The operation utilizes resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods.
