Common Cause Florida is urging state lawmakers to reject mid-decade redistricting, following a recent decision by the Indiana Senate Republican caucus to oppose such efforts. Amy Keith, Executive Director of Common Cause Florida, responded to Indiana’s move with a statement.
“Indiana Republicans’ rejection of mid-decade redistricting is a shining example Florida legislators should follow,” said Amy Keith, Common Cause Florida Executive Director. “Republican and independent voters in both states have made it clear they reject mid-decade redistricting. Florida legislators should follow Indiana legislators’ lead in listening to their constituents and ending the mid-decade redistricting conversation.”
Recent polling indicates that most Floridians are against both mid-decade redistricting and partisan gerrymandering. The opposition includes a significant portion of voters who supported former President Donald Trump.
