Bethune-Cookman University defeated No. 7/20 Florida 12-7 at Condron Family Ballpark on April 14, marking its second consecutive victory over a ranked opponent this season.

The Wildcats’ win is notable as it is the first time since 2009 that Bethune-Cookman has recorded two victories against ranked teams in a single season. The team maintained control throughout the game and never trailed.

Andrey Martinez played a key role for Bethune-Cookman, going 3-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, and four runs batted in. Darryl Lee also contributed significantly with three hits, including a home run and three runs batted in. Every hitter in the Wildcats’ lineup recorded at least one hit during the game.

Bethune-Cookman’s offense was highlighted by a seven-run seventh inning that broke open what had been a close contest. Anthony Anselmo pitched three and two-thirds innings to earn his second win of the season, while Justin Morales closed out the ninth inning to secure the victory.

This victory marks only Bethune-Cookman’s second win over Florida since 2000. The Wildcats will next host Alabama A&M for a three-game series at Sliwa Stadium beginning Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
