The City of Apopka Economic Development Department announced on April 21 the successful completion of its international trade and investment workshop, “How to Do Business with the Dominican Republic,” which took place on April 14 at Apopka City Hall.

The event aimed to help local businesses explore opportunities in global markets by providing information about trade with the Dominican Republic. About 40 local business owners, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders attended, showing strong interest in expanding their operations internationally.

The workshop was organized in partnership with the Consulate of the Dominican Republic, the U.S. Commercial Service, and the Central Florida International Trade Office. Attendees received guidance from expert speakers about export readiness, market entry strategies, and federal resources available through the U.S. Commercial Service. Participants also had a chance to speak directly with international trade specialists and consular representatives for advice tailored to their specific needs.

Commissioner Diane Velazquez welcomed attendees at the start of the event by emphasizing how important it is for local businesses to have access to global opportunities. Mayor Bryan Nelson closed out proceedings by highlighting Apopka’s commitment to economic growth through international partnerships. Feedback from those who attended was positive; one participant said, “This was a great presentation and the quality of the speakers was GREAT.”

According to organizers, this event demonstrates Apopka’s ongoing support for its business community as well as its mission to “Help Local Grow Global.” The city aims to connect entrepreneurs with international resources so that Apopka can continue developing as a center for innovation and economic expansion.
