Amorino, a French gelato brand with locations worldwide, will open its first Florida storefront in St. Petersburg’s EDGE District on May 1, according to an announcement on Apr. 21. The new shop is located at 1246 Central Avenue and shares a building with Bosphorus Turkish Cuisine.

The grand opening festivities are scheduled for Saturday, May 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring games and promotional giveaways throughout the afternoon. Local franchisee Germán Rodríguez Daza said, “We are excited to open our first Florida gelato shop in St. Petersburg…Amorino Gelato is one of the most recognizable artisanal gelato brands in Europe.”

Founded in 2002 by Paolo Benassi and Cristiano Sereni, Amorino has expanded to more than 300 locations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The St. Pete location marks the company’s first brick-and-mortar presence in Florida after operating a kiosk at Tampa’s International Plaza since 2022.

The new store features a European-style café design spanning about 1,800 square feet with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Amorino is known for serving gelato layered into the shape of a rose and offers flavors such as hazelnut, pistachio, vanilla, tiramisu, coffee, salted butter caramel, coconut as well as dairy-free sorbets like mango and strawberry.

Beyond gelato cones and cups, customers can choose from crepes, waffles, sundaes, milkshakes, cakes and gelato-filled macarons; espresso drinks including lattes and cappuccinos are made using Lavazza coffee beans while seasonal flavors will rotate throughout the year.
